OTP banka received the Green Star certificate and was ranked as a Green Leader

OBVESTILA

At OTP banka, we are aware of the social and environmental responsibility that we take on as one of the most important banking institutions in the country. Our responsibility towards society and the environment continues to be importantly intertwined with our business activities even after the merger of the predecessors of what is now the most accessible bank in Slovenia. We are firmly committed maintaining our responsible conduct in our relationships with stakeholders, in managing our environmental impact, and in maintaining the highest corporate governance standards. We are well aware that we have introduced plenty of best practices in the past, even before the merger of the two predecessor banks, all while outlining our ESG journey with ambitious goals.

OTP banka received the four-star Green Star certificate for 2023, which places it in the category of Green Leaders. Green Leaders include modern companies whose sustainability principles are firmly ingrained in their business strategies and business models, and who actively contribute to climate neutrality. The issuer of the Green Star certificate, the Sustainable Business Network (CER), found that OTP banka has long ago embarked on the journey towards green transformation and has set for itself goals and actions for sustainable business and climate action.

"The renewal of the Green Star certificate shows that we are on the right path, as we are introducing sound and effective measures that are tailored to the challenges of the banking industry. The report of the Sustainable Business Network further affirmed our strategic guidance and goals and steered us toward key lines that we will focus on going forward. Receiving the certificate is both an additional motivation and an obligation for us to enhance our ESG activities in the future and set even more ambitious goals”, noted Dóra Barbara Balog, Director of the ESG Sector, when accepting the certificate.

The basis for the Green Star certificate is the ESG Green Star rating of sustainable business and climate action, which is based on international sustainability reporting frameworks and standards and EU regulations. It rates the impact of governance, social, and environmental factors on a company and its footprint and the impact of the company on the environment, climate, and society. OTP banka also actively contributes to a better quality of life in the local environments it operates in. As part of our sponsorships, donations, and other partnerships, the Bank endeavours to include activities focused on ESG goals, such as environmental protection, corporate volunteering and charity, all while providing a favourable and stimulating work environment for all employees in its role as employer.
