Pazi.se, Izobrazi.se! – A Nationwide Campaign Against Online Fraud

3 April 2025
OBVESTILA

Online fraud is becoming increasingly sophisticated, causing millions in financial losses. At OTP Banka, we understand the importance of cybersecurity, which is why we are once again actively participating in this nationwide campaign Pazi.se, Izobrazi se! ("Watch Out, Educate Yourself!"). Now in its third consecutive year, the initiative is led by banks and savings institutions in collaboration with the Bank Association of Slovenia. The goal is to increase awareness of the growing threat of online fraud and empower banking customers to recognize and prevent online fraud.

The face of the campaign is Klemen Slakonja, a well-known actor, singer, and impersonator, who will use his unique style to bring the importance of cybersecurity closer to the general public.

Online fraud is on the rise, with scammers becoming more sophisticated.
The most common types of scams include Phishing attacks – fake emails and websites designed to steal personal information; Investment fraud – fraudulent schemes promising quick profits, especially in cryptocurrency investment; Fake online stores – websites that advertise great deals but never deliver the purchased products; Email hacking – fraudsters impersonate trusted individuals or companies to request money transfers.

The statistics are alarming. According to the National Cyber Security Response Center (SI-CERT), Slovenia recorded 4,587 cyber incidents in 2024, including 1,583 phishing attacks and 97 cases of cryptocurrency fraud. The police received more than 2,000 reports of online fraud, with total financial losses reaching €30.8 million.
